Position Description

Toptal is looking for a Communications Manager to focus on customer experience management, analysis and engagement.

This is a hands-on role that will require close coordination of cross-functional teams to manage, develop, analyze and report on strategies to enhance, promote and understand customer feedback and assessments via third-party organizations (Trustpilot, G2, Clutch, and others). This person will also develop and collaborate on proactive PR efforts that promote customer engagement and success. As a key member of the Marketing and Communications teams, this person will report to the Vice President of Communications.

This is a remote position that can be done from anywhere. Due to the remote nature of this role, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship. Resumes and communication must be submitted in English.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement customer experience communications strategies relative to third-party organizations and among key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement cross-functional communications plans and processes for customer feedback and assessments.
  • Write and present clear updates and progress reports that translate data into narratives for leadership and functional peers.
  • Build relationships with and coordinate with third-party organizations to provide information, analyze and interpret data and respond to inquiries.
  • Work with internal business leaders and others to respond to clients, social media, and other inquiries related to third-party assessments.
  • Work as a key member of the Corporate Communications team on proactive PR initiatives (press releases, media outreach) that strengthen Toptal’s leadership.
  • Assist with media monitoring.
  • Track, report, and measure the success of activities.

In the first week, expect to:

  • Begin virtual onboarding and training.

In the first month, expect to:

  • Complete virtual onboarding and training.
  • Meet with various leaders and stakeholders to understand business strategy and objectives.
  • Begin assessment of third-party organizations, social media engagements, and other online interactions.

In the first three months, expect to:

  • Develop a customer experience communications plan integrated with the overall corporate communications plan and aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Coordinate and build relationships with third-party organizations to provide information, analyze data and respond to inquiries.

In the first six months, expect to:

  • Partner with business leaders and others in real-time to develop and submit the required information for third-party organizations.
  • Write and present clear updates and progress reports that translate data into narratives for leadership and functional peers.

In the first year, expect to:

  • Collaborate with business leaders and others to develop and submit the required information for third-party organizations.
  • Work with business leaders and others to directly respond to clients, social media, and other inquiries related to third-party assessments or other issues that may garner external attention.
  • Position yourself as a key member of the Corporate Communications team on proactive PR initiatives (press releases, media outreach) that strengthen Toptal’s leadership.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years in communications; issues management background preferred.
  • A strong business sense.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and clarify complex and technical topics in a compelling way that is understandable to external audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience in project management, reporting, and collaboration.
  • Experience with TrustPilot, G2, Clutch and other review sites is a plus.
  • B2B PR experience (agency or in-house) is a plus.
  • You must be a world-class individual contributor to thrive at Toptal. You will not be here just to tell other people what to do.

As Toptal’s vice president of Corporate Communications, Rick is responsible for global public relations and social media initiatives that promote, enhance, and protect the company's brand, services, people and reputation. Before joining Toptal, Rick was vice president and head of global communications at Cognizant and previously held a variety of PR leadership positions at Progress Software and EMC Corp. (now Dell Technologies). Rick is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Journalism.
